Visit by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mrs Andrea Flynn

On Friday 20th April we held a special Commonwealth themed assembly as throughout the week we had been learning about what the commonwealth is and why it is important. This was all in preparation for Y2’s involvement with the Durham Commonwealth Project.
Mrs Andrea Flynn, a Deputy Lord Lieutenant for County Durham, was invited to visit our school and share with us in an assembly what she does as a Lord Lieutenant’s deputy.
Mrs Flynn explained her role and some of the children were able to tell her what they had learned about the Commonwealth. The children were then encouraged to ask her questions.
After the assembly Mrs Flynn visited each classroom and spoke to the children and everyone was very interested in the medal she wore.
Mrs Flynn was then shown around the school By Mrs Veitch before she left to attend another engagement.
